Music Genome Project

1. A) Identify your chosen musical genre & B) say why you chose it.
a. Country Music
b. I have always loved country music because mostly all the songs tell a story and i wanted to express some of my favorites in an honorable way.
2.Describe how you went about finding your songs and information
Most of the songs are ones that I like a lot and sound more country then other songs I like
and I used some of my own knowledge and information under the title of country music
3.What different kinds of technology did you use to compile your project? [Web tools, Mac tools, etc...]
I used Keynote for all of my informational slides. I also used Garageband to combine and cut and edit my songs and of course I used iMovie for my whole project.
4.What are you good at...what went well for you in this project?
I felt like I did a fairly good job of organizing the project and I also tried to hit most of the main points that should be known about country music such as some inspirational people.
5.With what did you struggle on this project...what was difficult for you
Combining all the songs but it was hard to choose seven that went well together. Cutting the music was also difficult because you needed it to stop at the right time. I also ran into a few problem with iMovie.

6.Did you decide to use still slides? Why or why not?  [If not, how did you convey your information?
I did use still slides because I felt they were easier to work with and I could always add transitions to the switching of slides. I feel it worked out well for me.

7.For what other classes, situations, uses could this type of project be adapted?
It could help with Literature to help explain a story better with the video and audio could be a narrator.
8.How did your project use the transformative property of borrowed images, music, and information to comply with the Copyright Law of 1976?[...not just that you cited the information, etc., but how did you transform the music, information, images, etc.?
I made the music and information my own by editing and putting things into my own words.
9.Would you do another project like this on your own? Why? Why not?
I would but then again I wouldn't because it was a lot of work for just me and it was almost too much work for me but I really enjoy the end result.

iMovie- Physical Education

1. Identify your team's topic
Physical Education

2. Describe your role on the team
I cut all of the videos and found a lot of the pictures. My voice is also recorded in the movie as well as my interview. I helped Emily make decisions about transitions, music, and all of the smaller details.

3. What did you learn from being a part of this team?
That each one of us had and has different points of views and ideas. But we were able to put them all together and make it all work

4.What went well for you as a team?
We worked really well together. We were also on a schedule of when things needed to get done.

5.What did not go well for you as a team?
Communication, we kind of started our project later than the others because we weren't sure what we were doing.

6. Describe the process from storyboarding through the movie creation. Did ideas/concepts/focus change from one kind of technology to the other? If so, how?
The storyboard was well organized and helped us with our planning but many things changed. We didn't think that some of the parts on the storyboard would take up as much time as some of them did.

7.What new tools and techniques did you learn by doing this project?
I learned how to pretty much make a movie which is something i never knew how to do before. I also learned how to cut video footage and use transitions to make it look realistic.
8. For what other classes, situations, uses could this type of project be adapted?
For my other classes, When i would have to make a slideshow i might ask to make a movie because it gets a message across better.

9.How did you use the transformative property of borrowed images, music, and information to comply with the Copyright Law of 1976?
It wasn't very difficult. All you really had to do was follow the rules and then you knew that everything was cited properly.

10.Would you do another project like this on your own? Why? Why not?
I probably wouldn't do another project like this on my own because it is a lot of work for one person. It was even a lot of work for me and I was in a group of three.

1.  What tools and techniques did you use to create your podcast? [be specific...10 pts.]
I used the audio tool to help with effects on my voice. I also used iPhoto for my pictures. This project allowed me to be really creative including being able to pick my song that went with my choice of movie.

2.  How could you use a project like this in other classes? [2 pts.]
It could help me explain a slideshow recorded instead of presented.

3.  In the “real world,” how could podcast projects be used (In what careers/businesses, etc.)? [2 pts.]
In a business for marketing and advertising because if you were to create a campaign it could be recorded with explanition and it could move around many places faster then an oral campaign. This way everyone gets the correct information.

4.  In this project, what did you get good at doing? [2 pts.]
I got really good at cutting and placing the music, jingles, and pictures. I found out that it really is not that hard to make a podcast. Garageband made it very easy to edit and create the podcast.

5. What was the most difficult part of the assignment? [2 pts.]

The most difficult part was trying to find jingles to match the script or movie imparticular. Another hard part was recording your voice just right.

6.  Would you do a project like this on your own? [2 pts.]
Yes, I would because I think it would be a lot easier then some other presentations.

iPhoto O'Brien Project

1. Upload your movie.

2. Which search terms did you use to find images (for the letters of your name and the images that describe you) and why?

I created and found these letters myself. Most of them are photographed outside in my backyard.
3. What skills did you use/learn in this project?

I used a lot of creativity in this project. My camera became my best friend. I learned a lot about iPhoto such as to rotate a picture and turn a picture into a different color.
4. Describe how you might use these skills and apply them to a real-world situation.

When i am looking to edit my photos for a photo album or Facebook i will automatically put them into iPhoto now. iPhoto is where I will store my photos for now on.
5. This was a more creative project than our first 2. Did you prefer it or the more cut and dry assignments in Word and Excel?

I liked this project much better because it allowed me to become more creative. This project also felt that it fit more to my life today instead of thinking of using the excel and word in the future. iPhoto is something I will use from now on.
